A former teacher’s aide at Prairie Elementary School on Oct. 19 pleaded no contest to charges that he molested six students at the school.
Sacramento County sheriff’s detectives and Elk Grove police last September served a warrant for the arrest of Eric Ernest Echols, 30, of Sacramento. This arrest followed a two-month investigation that started after authorities were notified that he inappropriately touched students, ages 7-8, between July 2015 and June 2016.
Echols was placed on paid administrative leave from the Elk Grove school district while he was being investigated.
The defendant pleaded no contest in the Sacramento Superior Court to seven felony charges of committing lewd acts with minors under age 14.
Echols faces 11 years in state prison and he will be sentenced on Dec. 21.
