The Story of Elk Grove
Elk Grove is a city in Sacramento County California situated just south of the state capital of Sacramento. It became part of the Sacramento Arden Arcade Roseville City Area. The 2nd biggest city in Sacramento County, Elk Grove was once the most quickly growing city in the US.
Elk Grove was founded in 1850 as a stage stop for tourists originating from Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Location, when the Elk Grove Hotel and Stage Stop was opened by James Hall and the city was consequently called after it.

Located close-by are California State University, Sacramento and the University of California, Davis, along with St. Mary’s College. Elk Grove is also the home of the private six-year Universalist religious college Quest Academy. California Northstate University College of Pharmacy transferred to Elk Grove close to Interstate 5.
The new Elk Grove Public Library lies at 8900 Elk Grove Blvd in a modern 2 story structure. It transferred to this place from just a block East. The library becomes part of the more comprehensive Sacramento Town library system. The Elk Grove Library also serves neighboring neighborhoods such as Vineyard, Wilton, Sloughhouse, and Rancho Murieta. Additional public libraries supplement areas, such as the general public Franklin High Library.
Elk Grove is serviced by a fared bus system called e-Tran that incorporates much of the city’s primary thoroughfares.
The Elk Grove Regional Park is the largest park in the region with it’s famous Pirates Island. Smaller parks consist of Morse Park and Camden Park.
